Erin Weed
Founder, Girls Fight Back
Erin Weed is an award-winning speaker, author and social entrepreneur. Described by a colleague as “a divine mish-mash of stardust and guts,” she is the Founder of Girls Fight Back (GFB), a live presentation about personal safety and self-defense seen by over one million women.
Erin’s calling to the field of women’s empowerment began in 2001 after the murder of her college sorority sister, Shannon McNamara, at Eastern Illinois University. Soon after, Erin created the GFB show and began touring the nation.
She conceptualized and wrote the first-ever recurring women’s safety column in a national publication for CosmoGirl magazine. Her book, Girls Fight Back: The College Girl’s Guide to Protecting Herself, is now being published in its 3rd edition.
Erin has been featured as an expert in both women’s safety and social enterprise in publications including the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Chicago Tribune, Marie Claire, Glamour, Ladies Home Journal, and The Guardian, and she was named CosmoGirl of the Year by CosmoGirl magazine. Her national television appearances include CNN, Fox News, Weekend Today and the CBS Early Show.
