Born to be WILD
The WILD Summit was born out of the Deming Center's Women's Council in early 2012 as a way to further increase the visibility and accessibility of successful business women in the community, to students...and to each other.
With more than 125 members connecting with students through Mentoring, Internships, Speaking in Business Classes, and Judging Business Plan Competitions, we felt it was time to broaden out our focus to the greater community of successful women and harness our contacts, expertise and drive to get things done...and create a new type of conference focusing on women in business.
At first, we had no idea what that would look like, but we had more than half (over 60 women) who volunteered to figure it out!
Within months, we had four strategic committees created (Program, Logistics, Marketing/Communication and Underwriting) and four fantastic Chairs to lead each along the path of creating this event from the ground up.
The Program Committee took the lead in identifying potential topics, themes and interests of both students and our members. Then the Marketing/Communication Committee set about the arduous task of trying to name/brand the event, along with all of the support technology and materials to help us communicate about the Summit along the way. Concurrently, the Logistics Committee set out to find the perfect location (to allow for attendance up and down the front range), and negotiate all of the details for the day to make it all come together. Finally, our stellar Underwriting Committee set out to find the financial support to underwrite this inaugural event.
After months of planning, strategizing, and energizing all of the volunteers who worked on the event...we are ready to launch the first ever WILD Summit! An event to bring together inspiring women at all stages of their professional careers, who together can share their experiences, knowledge and passions to each other and the students we hope to guide and inspire to become the successful businesswomen of our future.
