Dr. Jerry Lee Anderson
Principal, Monarch High School in Boulder Valley School District

Dr. Anderson is a native of Denver Colorado where she attended George Washington High School before earning a Bachelor of Science from George Peabody College for Teachers of Vanderbilt University in Secondary Education and Social Sciences.   She continued her education at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs earning her Masters of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction, and she went on to earn her Doctorate of Philosophy in Educational Leadership from Loyola University of Chicago.

For the last 29 years Dr. Anderson has worked within educational community.  She has taught a variety of subjects from grade four to the post graduate level and has taught both general and special education.
During the last 12 years, Dr. Anderson has had the opportunity to provide leadership and has played a significant role in improving the academic performance in schools where she has served as principal. Currently, Dr. Anderson is principal of Monarch High School in Boulder Valley School District, one of the “Best High Schools” in the Nation and in Colorado. Over the years Dr. Anderson has been recognized for her leadership and service to the community through a variety of awards – Educator of the Year,  It Takes a Village Award, Commander’s Award for Volunteer Service, Denver Fire Department Distinguished Service Award, and the Award of Excellence among others.

Dr. Anderson is married to Lt. Colonel Derric Anderson, graduate of the United States Military Academy.  They have four children ranging from ages four to twenty-four. Their daughter Diane is a graduate of Wake Forest University and Tufts University and is currently an art teacher.  Their daughter Jessica Anderson is a graduate student at DePaul University.  Their son Forrest Anderson is an undergraduate student at the University of Colorado at Denver and their youngest son, Solomon Anderson, is in first grade.
