Kathy Van Buskirk
Managing Partner and co-founder of Signal Rock Communications
She brings her broad-range of experience in global consumer and business communications, marketing, branding, positioning, and promotions to her diverse client base. Kathy recently led global communications for Expedia and for DISH Network and has been providing PR and marketing consulting services to organizations such as Every Mother Counts (a global maternal health organization led by Christy Turlington Burns), the National Wildlife Federation and Redbox Instant by Verizon.
Kathy is also the Managing Partner and co-founder of Signal Rock Communications (www.signalrockcommunications.com). Signal Rock focuses on helping companies large and small build or turn around their brand with consumer and business PR and marketing. Clients have included PRODUCT (RED), Motorola, Yahoo!, Redbox, Initiative (part of Interpublic), Holland Americas, Myxer, COOLER Solutions, Continua Health Care Alliance and others in the consumer, technology, and professional services arena.
Prior to these roles Kathy was the head of worldwide communications for Motorola Mobility (now part of Google), where she led a team of creative PR and marketing professionals in helping to re-ignite the MOTO brand worldwide, including leading the global launch for the Motorola DROID and the Motorola RAZR. In her 10+ years with Motorola and additional two years supporting them as a consultant,
Kathy held progressively responsible roles in global standards marketing, PR, and business development, including leading the company’s co-marketing efforts with partners such as Google, Apple, Microsoft, MTV, Yahoo!, Oracle, Kodak, MasterCard, and others.
Specialties include turn-around PR, executive communications and marketing strategy, the integration of branding and communications, partner marketing, and global product launches. Kathy received a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Central Florida and has received additional training and education through marketing and management courses throughout her career, as well as through the Socrates Society at the Aspen Institute.
